Roseto degli Abruzzi

It is one of the liveliest seaside resorts on the Teramo coast and offers wide, sandy beaches, ideal for summer holidays, which make it also known as “Lido delle Rose”. The original nucleus of Roseto is the village of Montepagano, located on a hill overlooking the coast, but it is since the nineteenth century that the modern town began to develop around the railway station. Today it is an important tourist center, alive thanks to the many cultural and artistic initiatives that accompany the seaside offer and the variety of sports activities that can be practiced, in and out of the water, including basketball, tennis, skating, windsurfing, sailing. Obviously there is a strong link between culture and food and wine that is expressed in various initiatives dedicated to the excellence of the territory, the same link that can be found in the cuisine of the best restaurants in the province of Teramo.

Borsacchio Nature Reserve

A few minutes from our B&B in Abruzzo, there is a small nature reserve, the Borsacchio, an area of uncontaminated beauty.

Here, between Cologna and Roseto, the coast retains all the original integrity of the Mediterranean scrub and the dunes of halophyte vegetation.

In the silence of a place untouched by urbanization, the Borsacchio offers ideal habitats for various species of animals and transparent and crystalline waters.

The Village of Montepagano

Montepagano is perched on the top of a hill that rises 286 meters above sea level in the heart of the municipal territory of Roseto. It is a medieval castle enclosed within the walls and has had, over the centuries, three gates: Porta di Borea, Porta Santa Caterina and Porta da Piedi.

The town has distant origins in time. The historian from Teramo Nicola Palma supposes that our ‘monte’ took its name from Pagano, nephew and successor of Pietro Ardingo, “major omnibus Aprutiensis Comitatus or from some of his ancestors whose name he had recreated in him”.
